  • At the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, Sens. Paul Sarlo and Loretta Weinberg, Bergen County Sheriff Leo McGuire and Pat Rybka, the widow of slain Bergen County sheriff’s officer Joseph Rybka, who was killed in 1979 by a suspect he was guarding, hold a news conference to unveil new legislation that would allow the State Parole Board to schedule parole eligibility hearings once every 10 years, rather than once every three years, for people convicted of first-degree offenses.
